This product turned out very well on my car.The only thing you should watch out for is the sanding especially with the 400 grit sandpaper. I notice some scratch markings on the headlight Len's when I finished. You might want to go to a hardware store and get some 700 grit to start out with because you might sand to deep with the 400,then you can use to 1000 and 2000 grit to finish off the sanding process,plus use a lot of water.This product seems to be able to do one car but possible 2 cars (2 Headlights each).All in all quite pleased with this product and also a true money saver

After following instructions very carefully I must say the results are headlights that are about 97% compared to new. The best thing about this kit is that the final step contains and easy to apply epoxy compound which provides perfect clarity but even more importantly, future UV sun protection.

Please be advised, this kit is not for use with a drill, as many others are. You have to use some "elbow grease" for this deal. The kit contains an alcohol like spray to start, which loosens the plastic to prep for sanding. The second step involves wet sanding with 400 grit sandpaper with light pressure, 1000 grit sandpaper with medium pressure, and lastly 2000 grit with heavy pressure. Each step in the sanding process takes 2-3 minutes per headlight. After the sanding process you rub on a clay-like substance to prep for the final epoxy stage.

The instruction manual advises completing the sanding process two times. I did it once, with great results. Finally, you pour a little epoxy (which is fairly runny, not thick) onto a paper towell, then wipe it across the headlight for an even coat. This was very simple. The headlight, as the manual advised, would appear to be a little foggy until this final step. The moment the epoxy went on the headlight looked fabulous and has remained that way. This is a must have product.

Ive been looking into headlight restoration kits for a while now and i couldnt find the right one. When i found this one i thought id give it a try and, let me tell you, it worked WONDERS. I was able to do 2 sets of headlights with it. I wish i had a before and after picture because the outcome was remarkable. The headlights look like new and i still have enough materials left over to do another set. If you do two then just use that "step 2 compound" sparingly. There is more than enough of the clear coat and activator spray though. I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone, if you have an hour and some elbow grease then you will see how amazing this product works. Also...dont slack on the sanding, thats the most important part.

TIP: i believe the instructions say to remove the tape before you apply the clear coat, i would leave the tape on and just start and stop when you hit the tape so you dont have to worry about getting any on your paint and missing any spots on the edges in the process. Now....If the instructions don't say that then never mind, my reading comprehension was never good to begin with. Hope this review helped!

This kit comes with everything except water and a rag to wash/wipe everything down between each step. Before using this kit on a 99 Chrysler 300C I watched the video at the following link:

Everything went very smooth. The part I was worried about was at the end when you installed the clear coat UV protection. This went on very easy. The video shows everything step by step just the way the instructions tell you how to restore your lenses to look just like new.

Only thing I can not vouch for is longevity. This is why I did not give the kit a 5 star review. Even if this kit were to lasts only 12 months it is worth seeing better when driving at night. Still cheaper than spending at least $150.00 on replacement headlight assemblies.

I live in the desert southwest and after only 4 years of our torturous grueling sun, my Maxima's headlights were looking bad. They were badly fogged and turning yellow which made my car look like it was 10 years old and, nevertheless, driving me crazy! No less, the light output from my headlights had equally diminished.

I purchased the Sylvania 38771 Headlight Restoration Kit in hopes of bringing some kind of life back to my dull, lack-less headlights. I read the instructions carefully and even watched their online video that the instructions referred to. The whole process was easy and took me under 35 minutes for both headlights. I was absolutely amazed by the end results! This kit made my headlights look brand spanking new and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a resolution to their dull looking headlights. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

My detailer had been working to keep my lights from yellowing for several years and the yellow always returned. My dealer said they could restore them for $250 but they would not guarantee the results. I didn't think that was a good option. So that's when I tried this. I presume it's similar kit to what the dealer would use, but with hand sanding rather than an electric sander that they would likely use. It took about 45 minutes of elbow grease to apply. I recommend watching the video they've posted on youtube to get the process right, there's several steps. I would say the process removed about 95 percent of the haze and yellowing when completed. Three months later, I think they have slightly dulled again, but only slightly. To my mind, if the lights keep most of their luster for a year it will have been worth it. If they start to rapidly fade again, I'll be back to update this review.

Kit works wonders and is easy to use! Made my cloudy headlights like new again and only took about one hour. Just follow the instructions; and suggest you watch the video first. Don't know how long it will last, but even if I have to do it once a year it is still cheaper than replacing the headlight covers which cost over $100.00.

"There are so many Headlight Restoration Kits out there, which to choose??"

THIS ONE! Why? Well, the reason I chose it is because it was the Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award Winner in 2010. And for good reason!

I have a 10-year-old Lexus. The headlights were SO yellow, dull and hazy that no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't even SEE the headlight bulbs inside. Besides the fact that they made the rest of the otherwise good-looking car look horrible, it's surprising how minimal the light output had become at night--and these are HID headlights.

First step was to call the dealership and find out how much it would cost to replace the lens housings. Over $600 just for the parts. Bzzzzz! Wrong answer!

Next step was to check out my other options. Enter the Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit, for $20-$25. Bingo!

The key is in the sanding. I spent 2 1/2 hours on the entire project, but it's because I was told that the more one sands, (especially with the 1,000, 2,000, and rubbing compound), the better the results. So sand I did. (If you read any of the other reviews where people didn't quite get the results they had hoped for, that will probably be why. Most of them said they did the whole job in less than 45 minutes, which means they didn't sand much.)

The last step is what turns the headlights crystal clear. My headlights literally look brand-spankin' new! I have rarely been so surprised, and so pleased with a product. It actually DOES what it claims. It's not marketing hype, like so many other products out there.

So if you have dull, faded, yellow headlights or fog lights, the Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit is the answer. Kudos to Sylvania for making such a great product.

My headlights were not super bad as some of the before and after pictures have illustrated but I was tired of polishing them every month or so with plastic polish. My results were still pretty astonishing, they looked like they were brand new. Instructions are easy to follow and took only about 40 minutes to do both headlights. This is definitely the kit to get if you have odd shaped or wrap around headlights as the power drill kits would be hard to use. My only complaint is that it comes with enough of the liquids to do 2 maybe 3 sets of headlights but only enough of the other materials to do one set. To replace those materials, if you did not have them at home already, would cost as much if not more than the entire kit. That's my reason for the 4-star rating.

Anyone who wrote a negative review of this product failed to properly follow the instructions. It made my *VERY* yellow and cloudy 11 year old headlights look factory new. I'm actually stunned by the results. I expected an improvement, but my headlights honestly look brand new.

As for the claim on the box for "under 30 minutes," well...

- 5 minutes to read and digest all the directions
- 5 minutes to tape the areas around the lights
- 5 minutes to apply the activating agent and clean both lights
- 5 minutes per light of 400 grit
- 5 minutes per light of 1000 grit
- 5 minutes per light of 2000 grit
- 5 minutes per light of compound
- 5 minutes to apply the activating agent and clean both lights
- 5 minutes to apply clear coat

That's just over an hour, which is about what it took me to complete the work on my '01 VW Pasaat.

Anyway, just buy this. It's very well worth the $$.

Directions are clear and the results very pleasing. Not only does it asthetically look like new, vastly improved from the old yellowed look, but along with a bulb upgrade (did the two at the same time) the visual range is very substantially improved.

I felt like I was driving blind before, but after using this kit, and the Sylvania SilverStar Ultra bulb improvement my car now out shines anything other than HID lights. The difference is huge, and my lights have longer range than the car in front of me!

It was so good I'm now shopping for a second restoration kit and set of blubs for my other car.

This kit worked very well, the headlights look like they did when they were new. I would suggest to make sanding easier, to put a small sponge behind the sandpaper to act like a sanding block (its easier to hold). Be sure to watch the video first before starting. Only time will tell how long the headlights will continue looking new after using this kit.
